Writing Courses

Scholars will learn to use culture, character, and creativity as a base for mastering the art of descriptive, reflective, analytic, and informative writing. This course will center on topics that affect, influence, and inspire young people to be a great asset to their community. These classes will also help scholars to discover the power in their voice and develop writing skills that will last a lifetime.

The calabash is one of the first crops harvested by man. It is used for storing, serving, and is considered a marker for wealth and power. The bases of writing in this course will be centered around subjects and activities related to folktales and other stories. We will explore topics of Iwa Pele (Good Character principles) and use a cultural lens to strengthen writing skills , story analysis, and critical thinking.
Mathematics Courses

In this course, our young scholars will be focusing on operations, algebraic thinking and number sense for ages 6-8.
The goal over these 3 months are:
- Affirming our children’s relationship in Math using an AfriKan History centered curriculum
- Understanding of Addition and Subtraction including strategies to solve
- Understanding of place values and groupings up to hundreds
- Beginning understanding of multiplication and division

In this course, our young scholars will be focusing on a process domain that is defined according to five categories. These are; knowledge and skills, interest, understanding, thinking, application and representation which constitute the general outcomes of the course. The course is expected to encourage consistent Algebraic education for all scholars. The course will enhance development and improvement of our scholar’s intellectual competence in logical reasoning, spatial visualization, analysis and abstract thought. By the end of the course our scholars will develop numeracy, reasoning, thinking skills and problem-solving skills.

Generation Genius is a comprehensive instructional course for students to hone their basic math skills and abilities. We’re calling all 4th through 6th graders to get ready to enjoy an exciting new approach to Solving Mathematical Word Problems!
*Also a good class for students who need tutoring and extra reinforcement.
Leadership & Economics

This course, taught by Scholar Instructor T Ma’at Efosa, introduces cryptocurrency and various aspects of financial literacy to our young scholars to begin to enhance their knowledge base and get them familiar with various terms in cryptocurrency, crypto protocols, the history of money, and the financial history of Afrikans in America. In addition, they will be exposed to coding in the financial world and various savings technologies. This is a great time to get our children acquainted with economic wealth.

M’Bwebe Ishangi shares intricate money-making methods and practices that will enable you to become financially literate to the point of being able to live off your savings and investments without having to work for someone—eliminating the anxiety of untimely job and wage loss and/or the fictitious “security” traditional savings models fail to live up to.
No matter how much education you have these institutions will not teach you how to manage money. If they did they’d be rendered powerless jeopardizing their bottom line… make money off your ignorance!
Through this course you will learn how to assess and eliminate debt, leverage financial your source using arbitrage tools that enable sustainable streams of passive income—not just for you personally, but your ensuing bloodlines—by way of velocity and infinite banking concepts!

This course will guide young innovators through the eight steps required to create a winning business plan. This self-paced 21st Century STEAM education curriculum uses financial literacy, blockchain technology, entertainment and entrepreneurship to strengthen the STEAM skills of STEAM educators, lifelong learners, young innovators and entrepreneurs.
Lessons in The Money Guide for Young Entrepreneurs provides fun, interactive activities and worksheets to teach learners of all ages how to:
•Create and implement an impact solution
•Demonstrate the value of their STEAM skills
•Build a team
•Raise funds to support their projects or ventures (sponsorships, crowdfunding, product purchases, donations)
•Promote and brand their achievements AND
•Develop a business or career-building opportunity that benefits themselves, their families, their team and their community
By completing The Money Guide for Young Entrepreneurs, learners will be able to:
•Create a digital portfolio, financial portfolio and business plan
•Demonstrate their ability to promote, brand and monetize their knowledge, special abilities, interests, STEAM skills and achievements
•Create sustainable impact solutions that benefit their communities and convert them into career-building opportunities and social enterprises.
*This course provides a virtual internship opportunity immediately following the course that is highly recommended for all youth scholars who participate.
Afrikan Studies

This powerful course shares incredible insight into world history from an Afrikan-centered lens that also connects past, present and future as one by exploring and dissecting what we see happening as current events in the world now, how it is connected to past events, and solutions to think about going forward. It also offers an Afrikan Ourstory from an in-depth perspective by exploring our heroes and sheroes, who have made an incredible impact. This class gives the students a rubric to identify the organizations they belonged to, the theories they espoused, daily habits and actions, personal and organizational challenges, what it takes to build a legacy and more.

This course, will both strengthen and deepen your child’s awareness AND connection to the Motherland in order to establish genuine respect, enthusiasm and ultimate commitment to serve HOME!

Psychology / Sociology Courses

This course is a deep look into the ways that our minds have been colonized through Yurugu (European) culture. And even more, how each and every one of us can begin to dissect our thought processes and habits that do not serve our highest good as Afrikan people. In this course, you will learn ways to decolonize your mind and begin to strategically empower ourselves, our families, and our people by FREEING OUR MIND OF SELF-DEFEAT. We will use the scholarly works of Nana Amos Wilson, Self-hatred Self Defeat: The Reclamation of the Afrikan Mind, as well as videos, discussions, etc.

Complementary Courses

This 10-week course is designed to assist mothers with our coming of age Black Afrikan daughters in providing transformative information and much needed skills regarding their earliest experiences of puberty. Mothers are highly encouraged to sit in and participate in the course with their daughters.

The goal of this class is to give students a basic understanding of Marcus Garvey’s Philosophy (Garveyism/PanAfrikanism), and the Afrikan Values that are it’s core principles.
Science Courses

Learn countries, various bodies of water, etc. of Mother Earth from an Afrikan worldview. Geography is the study of the world we live in, its environments, landscapes and natural disasters, and the relationship between people and environments. It is important to know Ourstory in relation to the world, as well as our connection with Mother Earth and the sacred innerstandings that have been passed forward from our Ancestors.

This course seeks to link education to real-life experiences that give scholars skills to access, criticize, analyze and practically apply knowledge that help them gain life skills. It is designed to have greater emphasis on the understanding and applications of scientific concepts and principles. This approach has been adopted in recognition of the need for learners to develop skills that will be of long-term value in a changing technological world rather than focussing on large quantities of factual materials which may only have short-term relevance.

Join in on this family fun as we are led by Scholar Instructor, Yejide Major, on a culinary journey of plant-based paradise! She will engage students’ taste buds and peak their thirst for knowledge as she shares exciting and simple child-friendly recipes that students will prepare in real-time. She will also focus on the importance of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen, cooking basics and etiquette.
*Parents will be required to purchase all necessary ingredients.

This course will continue to share more of the basics of traditional agricultural science. The methods and techniques I learned from my grandparents to modern-day methods to make farm tasks efficient. This course delivers the foundation of an effective farming/gardening journey with some historical context sprinkled within the lessons to give you the “why” we all need to be participating in agriculture.

Design is everywhere! Do you see it? From the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep, it’s all around you. Come and take a walk with us through the visible invisible world of design! Students will be introduced to this world we interact with every day, and a few of the fundamental principles that are used to create the images we see, such as graphic design, advertising, products, engineering, signs, products, etc. This great for children who want to learn more about graphic design as well as the science of design in general. Grades 3rd-12th.

Learn the ancient ways of healing through the study of the Afrikan Body Systems and how they function to bring about optimal health and wellness when we understand how they work. This course will dive deep into every child Knowing Thyself, as well as our connection with Mother Earth and the sacred remedies she provides that have been passed forward from our Ancestors.
Physical Fitness & Self-Discipline

This serious, yet fun experience for the whole family goes deep with various Afrikan Kombat Science training techniques that range from how to correctly do certain workout exercises, ways of protecting oneself, physiology of the body, critical thinking, and verbal judo. In addition, children learn wisdom, manners, and morals of respecting each other and our elders, then hone in on multiple Afrikan warriors, proverbs and quotes that fortify the mind, body, and spirit.
