Currently, she is an university professor and served as education consultant for her community. Alecia Blackwood is a mother, raising four beautiful children.
Ameerah started tailoring and perfecting her own abacus-based math program by designing a system that led her toddlers to early mental math mastery. Her patent-pending abacus-inspired tool allows parents to start children computing with simple components of the progressive tool. Her junior counter is a very simple entry device for fostering solid mental math skills.

Ms. Ashley is an early childhood expert and has been a play advocate for over 20 years. Ashley brought her experiences as an early childhood teacher, museum curator, and performer to found Play Plan Afrikan (playpanafrikan.org), an early learning collective, and Nguzo Babies (nguzobabies.com) a children’s puppet show. She has written books and teaching material including her Kwanzaa 365 curriculum to support educators in curating culturally diverse learning in classrooms everywhere. Her passion is offering support and quality resources to families with young children to restore the beauty of childhood and family pastimes.
Ahsir Asar Wright is a 13-year-old homeschool scholar who loves diving into many areas of interest such as reading, building with Legos, photography, and analyzing military strategies. He also has a passion for entrepreneurship and economics, having bought his first piece of land at the age of 11 and founding his own business at the age of 10 named The Black Intelligence Agency (BIA), which is a youth organization designed to implement active forms of change through a mix of Afrikan studies, physical conditioning, metaphysics, organizational operations, and community outreach.
In addition, Ahsir has a passion for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math), where he is a pilot in training, musician, art educator, and app designer having made the “Victory Over Violence” app that focuses on education, safety techniques and healing in reference to police brutality; and also the “Black Homeschoolers Meet” app it’s corresponding website for The Liberated Minds Black Homeschool & Education Institute.
Ahsir also enjoys speaking and sharing his knowledge to empower others while gaining knowledge from others simultaneously. He has been a featured speaker at The Black Sustainability Summit, Afrikan Kultcha School, The Impact Festival, A Black Education Network Gala, as well as a video highlight presentation at Susan L. Taylor’s Atlanta Cares Foundation Event, and a guest panelist at the DigCit Conference. To add to that, Ahsir co-facilitated and organized the “Victory Over Violence” webinar, which was a call to empower Black families that focused on solutions regarding police brutality and tools of empowerment vs. victimization.

A publisher and writer for 30 years and author of 6 books on issues pertaining to the Afrikan Diaspora in the field of history, spirituality, health, culture, economics, interlaced to what Ishangi terms as ‘Self-determined Sustainability’, Ishangi emphasizes cultural resuscitation can only happen with the tenets of financial literacy as a substructural piece allowing one the freedom to express the life they’ve been born to live. As a 4.0 GPA student, Jelani Byrd knows all too well that sleepless nights, and stressful study halls only to receive a lackluster grade is the hallmark math experience for most. Having spent years in this environment, and tutoring struggling students, Jelani noticed that the reason most struggle with math comes down to a handful of basic misunderstandings that hinder the way math is taught and, therefore, learned. Having found these misconceptions, he was able to empower students to immediately improve their math performance using just a few of these techniques.
I have been an Educator in Math for 4 years now. I teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry. I have passed advanced Algebra and Geometry with B+ in both semesters at The University of Zambia (UNZA). I inspire love of Mathematics in everyone of my students by showing them how different components of Mathematics can be applied to their daily lives.

Hi! My name is Tanita Gray and I have been a footwear designer & developer for over 17 years. My background is rooted in Apparel Design however, shoes took me all over the world and catapulted my career from Graphic Artist to Creative Director, Educator, Publisher and now CEO of Shoe Waste LLC. My time with shoes has been amazing! But I did learn some hard lessons along the way. My current passion is teaching people about the vastness of sustainability and why it is important we design better to support our future. I am a Catalyst 2030 member and leader of the Fashion Waste Stream group. A native Brooklyn New Yorker, now living in Southern California with my family, I enjoy coming up with new ideas, finding out about beneficial foods and watching science fiction and fantasy movies.

For over 20 years, Jason has assisted small businesses and non-profit organizations in the comprehension, development, and execution of technology-related functions including but not limited to computer hardware/software integration, system design, and information processing. Proud father of 5, Jason has affectionately been called Brother, Baba, Coach and respectfully Ras but never Mr. Thigpen. Baba Jason has 20 plus years of experience in Information Technology ranging from lead technician to project analyst, network administrator, deployment specialist, project analyst and a technology specialist and Computer Science Educator. Avery S. Bush started drawing when he was 2, and began his professional design career in 1998 with the Florida Department of Education. Starting with traditional (mechanical) print design then transitioning to computer graphic design and illustration, he’s worked with clients around the world through his ASB Design Studio, which will be releasing its first visual storytelling project for young learners — incorporating NFT technology — in 2023.

Kwao Kongo (George Echeverri) is a Baba (Father), Husband, Poet/Artist (known as AfroN8V), Independent Scholar, Garveyite, on the journey of Sankofa/reAfrikanization who believes in continuous study and learning which he does through the Africana Study Group and as an auto-didact. Born in Miami, FL and a member of the Afrikan-‘Colombian’ community by heritage who has traced his ancestral lineage on Abibiman (Afrika) to regions such as the Upper Guinea region of Senegambia, Lower Guinea region of Ghana/Liberia/Sierra Leone, and the Kongo region of Central Afrika. Author of, Afro-Native Poetry and Rhymes, a socio-cultural and ourstorical poetry book. His areas of study and work span the fields and subject areas of Afrikan-centered Education, Afrikan World Studies, Ethnomusicology, Our Story, Cultural Anthropology, Sociology, Decolonizing the Afrikan Mind (Psychology), Afrikan Deep Thought (aka Afrikan Philosophy), Continental and Diasporic Afrikan languages, Afrikan Freedom Fighters/Maroons, Afrikan Fighting Arts, Afro’Colombia’, etc.

My goals in life and for any class(es) I teach are to plant the seed of wisdom, nurture the persons natural talents and abilities, then watch it grow and it being taught to their communities!! Dada Sydney has been working with young suns for the past 6 years academically, as a soccer coach, and as a caretaker. She has been dedicated to the return of Maat ever since reading Mama Marimba Ani’s Yurugu in 2018. Her and her complement have begun several businesses with the vision of creating and bringing sanaa (art) to Afrikan people wherever we are. In the spirit of Kujichagulia, Dada Sydney has continued to seek and create jobs in educating, uplifting, and growing our watoto. Currently, she offers a selection of courses on several platforms and is gaining experience with some partnerships in public schools. She is also committed to reading in an Afrikan study group and spending time with family. Finally, she loves going to the beach, staying active, and making things for the people she loves.

Baba Kamau Rashid is an educator and researcher based in Chicago, Illinois. He has taught various classes to youth and adults covering a range of topics including ancient African history, African philosophy, and social science research. He specializes in the examination of the African worldview and its varied expressions among African people. Additionally, he is a professor at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and has published articles on African thinkers such as W.E.B. Du Bois, Kwame Nkrumah, Jacob H. Carruthers, and Carter G. Woodson. Further, his writings have explored Hip Hop as an instrument of critical education, African languages as vehicles of liberation, Capoeira as a healing modality, and so on. Lastly, he is the president of the Midwest region of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations.

TJ also delved into the hot California real estate market. As a once mortgage broker, and land developer, he partook in investing in the city of Palmdale, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. Kevin is a practitioner of the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira, and have been training for 10 years. He has had the pleasure of teaching both children and adults of all ages. His goal is to offer knowledge in this beautiful art by using movement/self-defense, music, instruments language, and culture. Kevin is a married, father of 3 (2 boys and 1 girl) who are also part of the capoeira family.
